Vegan Leather: Leveraging sustainable bio-fabrication processes, cutting-edge materials and existing biotechnological infrastructures to create plant-based polymer blends and vegan-leather from cacti and mushrooms.
Leather manufacturing necessitates the growing and butchering of animals, which has a significantly detrimental environmental impact and the tanning process often employs harmful chemicals like as trivalent chromium/chromium salts. On the other hand, faux leather, or 'pleather,' is not only created using plastic polymers derived from non-renewable fossil fuels, but it is also not easily biodegradable.
To address this significant issue, Weaving Waves takes great pride in integrating fashion and biotechnology, to lead R&D in sustainable bio-fabricated vegan leather alternatives which do not require the same level of chemical finishing.
